How can the Desert Climate be affected by Human impact?

0

The desert climate doesn’t get affected directly by human activity deserts remain deserts. What does happen due to human activity is the expansion of deserts. Due to urbanization and deforestation we are helping accelerate the process of desertification. Cities are like heat islands. They are extremely hot compared to forests, the sun bounces of the buildings hit the road and is absorbed into the ground leeching the ground water and soil. The earth below cities becomes drier and drier. Also the other major force of desertification is farming. Farmers divert the flow of the river to irrigate. lessening the flow of the river, therefore lowering the overall water in that area, as water spread over a wider land area evaporates quickly. As a reaction the lack of water farmers are forced to use brackish ground water from wells which compounds the issue because this salty water further leeches the soil spreading the dessert.
