The city is primed to attract businesses and jobs because of its location near Highway 167, Highway 18 and the Supermall. Retail businesses will be coming to Algona. Attracting the right businesses is the difficult part. Algona needs to attract businesses that will contribute to the sales tax revenue while preserving our small town atmosphere that we all moved here to enjoy. We need good business citizens as much as we have good resident citizens. What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position? My professional training and skills are key to moving Algona into the future. When I was appointed Mayor, there were many problems that needed addressed. Most importantly, the city needed professional management. In the few months since becoming Mayor, I have selected professionals for Department Directors. We have installed new software in the administrative department and tightened internal controls. I hired a highly respected Police Chief, while saving the city money. Personal
