How can teens get a full body working without using free weights?
It is absurd that you are not “allowed” to use free weights, because of your age. Free weights are the foundation of any muscle building program and they also support the development of your nervous system, make your bones stronger and help build a foundation of good muscle that will stay with you for years. Machines are good for some occasions, but you should get a full range of motion and train hard to progress. Weight training supports many kinds of healthy growth and will not stunt your growth, that is an urban legend. I started lifting at the age of 13 and now i’ve been training for 13-years and i’m perfectly fine. Build your program around free weight compound movements such as: bench presses, rows, squats, curls and dips. Remember that all the training in the world wont help you unless you eat enough of calories and protein… If your gym does not allow you to use free weights, find a new one.
