How can teachers promote gender equity in classrooms?
Teachers can promote gender equity in their classrooms in a variety of ways. They can check textbooks and other materials to make sure that both males and females are portrayed in traditional and nontraditional roles. Teachers can watch for any unintended biases in their own classroom practices. For example they can see if they group by sex for certain activities when it is not neccessary or if they call on either sex more to answer questions. One other way teachers can promote gender equity is to use gender-free language as much as possible. How can schools accomodate the needs of physically challenged students? Schools need to accomodate the needs of physically challenged students any way they can. There should be ramps for students in wheelchairs. The textbooks should be in braille for students who are blind. If a student is deaf there should be someone in their classrooms who is able to sign for them. Whatever the physically handicapped student needs should be accessible to them. P
