How can songs ever be truly copy written?
I’ll address one of your points directly. “even if a song is legitimately copywritten, theres still no way to prove who created it” – but you see, that doesn’t matter. It matters who copyrighted it and therefore filed legal claim on the intellectual material. The law isn’t interest in who wrote what unless there is a lawsuit challenging the copyright registration itself. The rest of the lawsuits are about who owns the rights. The way that music was copyrighted before computers was more labor intensive, true. But then, you had to provide sheet music as part of the registration and a copy always stayed on file. Next issue, doesn’t matter if your song matches or doesn’t match. If it contains enough licks that match someone else’s work, you can STILL get sued.
