How can some Mexicans immigrate to the United States without a birth certificate?
Since birth certificates are free (they don’t cost a CENT), I can’t think of any situation in which a person is “too poor to afford one”. People who don’t have one is not because of poverty, but because us mexicans often neglect government tramits and documents. The fact is that to enter the USA, a mexican will need a passport and a visa. The first one is issued by Mexican government, and the second one by the US-INS (just guessing). To get a passport, as long as I know, you need a birth certificate. In case you don’t have one, you need two witnesses that HAVE birth certificates and claim it’s you who you’re saying. To get a visa, all you need is a valid passport… Well, that and a proof that you’re not trying to get an illegal job (that’s easy when you have a good job, a house, are in school or have your roots well stablished in Mexico).
