How can simulation performance be evaluated?
Experienced users of simulations have observed that students are not highly motivated to invest significant time and effort in a simulation unless there is some reward that counts towards their course grade. It is recommended that performance in the simulation count toward the course grade. An important question is: how much should participation in the simulation count toward the course grade? A second question is: what measure or measures of performance should be used? A third question may be asked: is performance actually an indicator or measure of learning that takes place in simulation competition? In other words, should other simulation activities other than performance alone also be the basis of grade evaluation. The question of whether performance is a measure of learning has been extensively debated. Total enterprise simulation by design are intended to be competitive. Teams in an industry compete for market share and often time the strategy of one team is designed to have adve
