How Can Renewable Resources Help The Earth?
Renewable resources: Cut back on emissions that influence climate patterns Help in creating sustainable economies Spur research in related areas that would further help in establishing sustainable economic patterns. (That is, the economy would do less harm environmentally – that is the idea anyway.) Some concerns: Some materials used in creating the devices for renewable energy are toxic (Solar panels for example can contain cadmium, gallium and other toxic materials.) Cut down on the existence of coal power plants (a popular choice for electricity generation). This would reduce strip-mining of large areas, mountain top removal and emissions by said power plants. New efficient light bulbs can contain mercury. It is my opinion that the concerns of the hazards of renewable energies are outweighed by the concerns of, say, coal power plants.
We are are using resources that can not grow back, we are just burning stuff up (fossil fuels) that we can not replace. Eventually there is going to be no more fossil fuels to burn, and we are not going to be able to make any more energy. Renewable resources help the earth because we can regrow them. Fossil fuels have a lot of carbon dioxide in them and we are putting the carbon dioxide into the air faster then mother nature wanted, so it is making the earth warmer (global warming). This is melting the ice caps and killing lots of animals like polar bears, and penguins.
