How can prospective parents keep parenthood in perspective?
Keep in mind what was important to you as a child. Was it the possessions you owned or the activities you did? The most important thing you can do for your children is to stay relaxed and happy and give them your time. I’d wager that your kids won’t remember down the track whether they had the optimal development opportunities or the latest and greatest toys, but they will remember whether you were usually good humoured or usually stressed out. How do you suggest parents keep their sense of humour? If I’m having a bad day I’m always comforted by the fact that my kids have no basis of comparison – I’m the greatest mum they’ve ever had! Is financial change a boring topic? Well, I have to admit that I do find it interesting, but then I am a bit of a nerd. Generally anything financial usually makes good bedtime reading for insomniacs!
