HOW CAN PEOPLE HELP IN ERADICATING MALARIA ?
People can help by simple accepting the spraying of an insecticide called D.D.T., the chief weapon against the Malaria carrying mosquito. Malaria workers will do the spraying. What people have to do is to allow the spraying of the walls and ceilings of their houses and cattle sheds twice a year. The Malaria carrying mosquitoes which usually rest on the walls before and after sucking blood from a person will thus come in contact with D.D.T., they sooner or later get killed before they are able to transmit the disease, D. D. T. spraying will be effective only if the surface is allowed to retain the D. D. T. for 10-12 weeks. One should not dust off, white wash of mud-plaster before that period. What is needed is people’s co-operation. If people cooperate not only individual families will be saved but the community and the nation as a whole will be saved. We, therefore, appeal to every individual of the community to – • Accept D. D. T. spraying willingly. • Allow the spray to remain undist
