How can people help catch child predators in chat rooms?
Become a police officer or federal agent, this is not an area for amateurs. Perverted Justice is not a recognized program within the law enforcement community; even if they have been used by some agencies in association with the TV “To Catch a Predator” series. Much caution must be exercised, no one is authorized to possess child pornography, even by those investigating it, unless in direct pursuit of a governmental criminal investigation. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (www.NCMEC.org and/or missingkids.com), has information available and provides a reporting mechanism for child exploitation (CyberTipline, available on the web site). This non-profit was created by Congress, and partial funding for this agency is provided by the Dept of Justice.
