How can one make their drains smell nicer?
I wouldn’t recommend using chlorine bleach with your bare hands, as it could burn your skin. A safer solution would be to pour 1/2 cup of baking soda into the drain, followed by a cup of white vinegar. Let it fizz up and wait 15 minutes. The chemical reaction will break down any gunk that is stuck in the pipes. Then pour a gallon of boiling water down the drain and you should be all set. I do this to my kitchen and bathroom drains whenever they are clogged or smelly. If you do have a garbage disposal, the other person’s answer about grinding up a lemon is a great idea.
