How can nutrition help with pregnancy sickness?
No-one quite knows for sure why some women feel sick in pregnancy and some dont. One theory is that there is an evolutionary, built-in aversion to foods that may poison you and your baby, and the sickness ensures that you just eat very plain bland foods. That may be a reason why many women go off the very foods that are so nutritious for them at this time, like green vegetables and fish they are sensitive to the sulphur-like smell of them. Another reason may be rapid changes in blood sugar; low blood sugar can cause nausea which then discourages eating, which of course just exacerbates the problem.
