How can NIAC be impartial if individuals in NIAC are politically active elsewhere?
NIAC’s mission is to encourage political participation within our community. If we were to discourage our own members and leadership from participating in American political life, we would be acting contrary to our mission statement. However, NIAC’s charter ensures that those engagements do not affect NIAC’s impartiality and objectivity. Although NIAC may be a pioneer in the Iranian-American community by promoting political participation in a non-partisan way while having politically active people in its leadership, this formula is very common across American society and among other ethnic communities.
