How can my friend get a reasonable accommodation in London with help from the council?
Hi unfortunately the rest of the answerers are pretty much right (not the stupid racist ones). There are long waiting lists for council housing, and priority cases will get bumped up the list. As an able-bodied young male with a job and a house (even though it’s a rubbish one) he stands absolutely no chance of getting council housing anywhere in London, or anywhere in the UK to be honest. The best bet is for him to get on gumtree http://www.gumtree.com and find himself some cheap private accommodation, if only for the short term. There’s plenty on there and if he wants to live so far from home and enjoy the world then he’s going to have to learn how to get on his own feet a little bit and look after himself!
