How can my child participate in programs that have early tryouts (cheerleading, choral groups, sports, etc)?
Any child who can demonstrate residency in the city at any time during the upcoming year should contact the school they will be attending to receive specific information regarding sports / cheerleading / choral tryouts for that school. The Chesapeake Middle School League establishes the starting dates for middle school practice sessions of athletic activities during the school year. At the middle school level, cheerleading tryouts are typically held in the spring after April 1st. High school interscholastic activities have start dates mandated by the Virginia High School League.
