How can Muscular Exercise and Muscular Injection be a predisposing factor for the paralytic polio type??
A. A polio attack after injections is called “provocation” poliomyelitis. This was observed in many cases that 30 days before onset of paralysis the case gave a history of receiving injections (the majority were antibiotics). This provocation polio occurs after exposure to oral polio vaccine. This became an issue for educating clinicians to avoid unwarranted IM injections for any febrile illness, repeated injections may affect the muscle strength and becomes weak.
