How can letter grades/percentages be used fairly with ESL and ESD students?
When either of the boxes identifying ESL or ESD is checked in any subject area, this designation indicates that the student s program has been modified. The letter grade or percentage reflects the student s achievement in the modified program. The following statement must appear in the Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Steps section of the report card: The (grade/mark) for (strand/subject) is based on the achievement of the expectations in the (ESL) or (ESD) program which vary from the Grade __ expectations.
