How can Kuwait solve its project management problem or merge it with the country’s traditional systems?
First we have to focus on building leaders. In parallel to that we will be able to build a project management system. We don’t have a system; most decisions are based on tradition. We lack new education which will not affect our culture but will adapt and grow it into the needs of the current era. There is something called project scope management in project management; we have to have a certain scope in our management and departments so that we will be able to acquire a scope on the project we want to implement. Lots of risk factors will arise without having a system and a scope in place. Being a leader is not necessarily being a manager, which is not understood in Kuwait. People here think that if a person is promoted to management level that he is by default a leader. That is a fatal mistake, actually, and the young generation is paying for it.
