How can kids get involved in watershed protection?
There are several ways for kids to get involved with watershed protection. These include: • Finding out more about their watershed on our website, including fun activities and coloring pages. • Asking an educator to come talk about watershed at their school, or during a community or youth event. • Contacting a local watershed group to organize a children’s activity, link for more details. • Asking their local 4-H club, youth group to organize a cleanup event or tree planting in the watershed. • Going out with parents or guardians to explore nature and the watershed in their own backyards. • Going out with researchers to collect water quality data about their watershed, or to go on a watershed tour. • Join the 4-H outdoor education club – contact CCEDC for more details. Youth that learn to enjoy being outdoors also want to protect the environment.
