How can job fair attendees stand out in the crowd, especially with so many more people job searching?
BOHLIG: Come prepared to inquire about current job openings and required experience and education. Recruiters remember candidates who are well-dressed and groomed and have some basic knowledge of the job they are seeking. Also, research which organizations will be attending the recruiting event, and do a little homework on your own to be able to discuss specialty units of the organization. Arrange for someone to care for your children. They are a distraction to the candidates and the recruiters, and may hamper the candidates’ ability to speak with recruiters or nursing managers. ADVANCE: What kind of questions should attendees ask recruiters at a job fair? BOUTELLE: Where are you located? How much experience are you looking for? Do you offer preceptorships? Do you offer relocation assistance? Don’t ask, “Do you have any jobs?” I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t. Serious job seekers know which vendors are coming to a job fair and may do some research on them prior to coming to the fair. ADV
