How can insects be useful for determining time of death?
Insects can be used to estimate how long a body has been exposed. When a body is deposited in a situation where insects can access it, different insects will be attracted to the body depending on the degree of decomposition. So by identifying the type of insect present an estimation of the passage of time can be made.
