MrSid files can be used as reference cartography (they are images and, in consequence, you can not work with layers) in programs such as AutoCad, ArcView, MicroStation and others. You can see a list of software that allows working with MrSid format files. Every manufacturer’s website shows how to do it. Also the GeoViewer 3.0 application by Lizardtech can be used, once downloaded for free from the Lizardtech website (almost all personal computers use Windows 32 bits).
