How can I visit the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, Vatican Gardens?
The Vatican Museums are visited by more than four million visitors each year. The Sistine Chapel, sumptuously decorated by Michelangelo, Raphael, Bernini and Botticelli, is one of the top tourist attractions in the world. It is here that the conclaves are held to elect a new Pope. The Vatican Musuems are usually open to the public ever weekday morning, except on Vatican holidays. The entrance is free on the last Sunday of each month, but queues can be very long. Tickets can also be ordered on-line, thus avoiding the queues, at the ticket office on the official website. The entrance to the Museums is in Viale Vaticano, near Piazza Risorgimento. Individual visitors and organised groups can book guided tours of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel or Vatican Gardens. Private tours for groups of maximun 15 people are also available.
