How can I use WebCT Vista to help me detect plagiarism?
The University subscribes to the Plagiarism Detection Service software supported by JISC. This software (called Turnitin) detects instances of similarity between digital copies of student work, and material held in internal databases and the worldwide web. The WebCT Assignment tool can assist staff with plagiarism detection by providing a course-specific repository for student submissions. Each student uploads their document/s into their course WebCT Assignment tool. The class submissions are then conveniently downloaded by staff as a single ZIP file, and later submitted to Turnitin. To make use of these facilities WebCT users must also have an account with the Plagiarism Detection Service. Contact the eLearning Helpdesk (elearnhelp@ed.ac.uk) to request an account.
