How can I use the laptops to facilitate student fieldwork and mandatory research projects in Science?
Many schools already have data logging devices and a range of probes that they probably already use in the field. The provision of student laptops may not change the way we collect data in the field but it will certainly facilitate the manipulation and analysis of that data once it is brought back to the classroom. It is easy to export data collected on a data logger as a csv file which can be loaded directly in MS Excel where there is the potential for the use of powerful and easy to use analysis tools. Note: csv stands for comma separated variables and is a standard format used by many spreadsheet programs to import and export data.
