How can I use the EAS Character Generator for a local CG channel?

Thats easy, the SUB-ALERT was designed for this! The EAS/CG can simultaneously function for your local CG channel. However, when the EAS/CG is needed for EAS alerts, the ENDEC takes control and builds the necessary text information. When the alert process is over the ENDEC restores the EAS/CG to its previous alphanumeric display. If you need a new CG or have extra channel capacity this is a great way of implementing EAS because the character generator now has dual purpose. In the main ENDEC menu arrow down to and enter into MHz SUB-ALERT. Select Mode 1. Synchronize the ENDEC and EAS/CG by sending a RWT. After the RWT, all video outputs on the EAS/CG will provide normal CG video. You are now ready to begin designing pages for display. Follow the programming instruction in the CG Users Guide. Remember in Mode 1, this alphanumeric channel is now your EAS details channel for voluntary alerts.
