The Macintosh version of iView MediaPro 2.6.4 introduced integration with Apple’s search technology Spotlight found in Mac OS X 10.4+. Spotlight allows users to search for both files and the data embedded in those files directly from the menu bar and have the results shown as the files are located in real time. In this example we’ll demonstrate two methods of using Spotlight to search for data embedded directly in your MediaPro catalogs. We’ll start by creating an iView catalog and adding a number of images to this in the normal way by either dragging and dropping them into the catalog window or using the File/Import menu command. Add the keyword “Atlanta” and assign several of these images to this keyword by dragging them directly to the keyword entry in the organize panel. When we next save this catalog Spotlight is quietly instructed to update it’s records and associates the catalog with this annotation.
