You should start by reading materials from the chapter on POSIX threads that has been put on electronic course reserve. (Access is limited to the class, use the password that is posted on the course Blackboard site). If you would like to look at the complete text, it is UNIX Systems Programming: Communications, Concurrence, and Threads by Robbins & Robbins and is available at the reserve desk. If you plan on continuing to program with POSIX, I would highly recommend purchasing a copy of this text.
