How can I train my dog not to raid the cats litter box?
I have not met the dog yet who would pass up “kitty crunchies” from the litterbox. It’s just one of those gross things that dogs do instinctively. The only way to prevent it from occuring is to put the cat box somewhere that the dog can not reach. You could try putting it up on a shelf or table. Or you could try putting a baby gate across the door to the room where the cat box is, the cat will be able to jump over it (if you are worried then just put something next to the gate that the cat can use as a “step”) but the dog will be shut out. Some people with larger dogs have had great success putting the cat box in a closet or room that has a cat-sized pet door or hole cut in the door (although I imagine your cat and dog are about the same size so this probably wouldn’t work for you). You can easily train the dog to leave the cat box alone when you are present, but no dog will pass up the opportunity if they don’t think anyone’s around to stop them so removing the dog’s access to the lit
