How can i train my beagle-dachshund mix?
First, he is a mix of 2 very busy breeds. Dachshunds & Beagles are both hunting dogs. Beagles can go for miles and miles. Dachshunds can have the energy to go all day also. Also, at 3 1/2 months, he will not be completely housebroken. He’s a puppy and puppies don’t train themselves. So, you need to feed him on a schedule, 2x’s a day is a good start. Then he will start to eliminate on schedule. Take him out on leash, 20 minutes after eating a meal and 10 minutes after drinking water. He should not be allowed to run around the home unsupervised. If you can’t supervise him, he should be in a crate big enough for him to stand, turn around and lay down, no bigger or he will learn to eliminate in a crate. If you want him with you, then tether him to you with a leash (attach to the leash to your belt), then you can see what he is doing.
