How can I train for Ice Skating?
Try going on youtube and watching tutorials (and then practicing the motions off ice). There are plenty of those on there. They will at least show you some skating elements and some will explain the way to actually perform those elements. Go to your rink’s open or public skate session and practice those and eventually you’ll be able to make up your own little program with the tricks that you know. If you want to compete, you will indeed need a coach and will have to test. I would suggest learning how to do swizzles, crossovers, stroke correctly, a t-stop, a hockey stop, then I’d move up to going backward, doing a two-foot spin, and try a waltz jump. Let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂 hope that I helped a bit Here’s a link to a youtube video teaching you how to do a crossover. This person also has many other videos teaching you how to do other basic skating skills. http://www.youtube.com/watch?
