How can I test the antimicrobial properties of herbs and spices?
I didn’t read the PDF, because I don’t follow links, but I can give you a good way to test the antimicrobial properties of these herbs. First, what you’ll want to do is get some petri dishes with non-selective medium that will grow bacteria. Then, swab the inside of your gums or your tongue with a q-tip. Then wipe the qtip all over the petri dish. use a separate q-tip for each dish. You will have to have solutions of standard concentration of each of the herbs and spices you want to test. Take these solutions and with an eyedropper, drop a single drop of each herb/spice around the edges of each dish, making sure not to get the drops closer to each other than around 1 cm, so they don’t mix. Then allow the bacteria to grow overnight. The clear zones around the drops indicate areas where bacteria will not grow. The larger the clear zone, the more antibacterial the herbs are. This method isn’t super-scientific, but it will allow you to evaluate these properties relative to the properties o
