How can I tell the difference between the less valuable and more valuable 1922 plain cents?
In truth, all of them are typical and rather common errors, and none of them should logically command any premium value…but since they do, we deal with reality. The more valuable version of the 1922 no ‘D’ cent shows a stronger reverse than the two other die pairs associated with this error. If the reverse lacks detail even in higher grades (VF or better), you have a weak reverse. If the wheat lines show well, you have the strong reverse.
