How can i stop my fig tree producing fruit?

Imagine a cross section of the tree. It has as much below ground as above to keep it fed. If you reduce the food supply, you get less production. So… lay a hose in a circle around the trunk but at a distance half way out to the drip-line (the far points). Sharpen your shovel and go around severing the roots every odd shovel width – like a big dashed line all around. Trim the branches in mid summer so less sun and food gets down to the root. You see, when the tree is trimmed and wakes in spring, it has excess root / top so goes into high growth mode. It also thinks its under attack and will produce seed (and fruit) to keep alive. So trim in summer.
