How Can I Stop Blacking Out When Drinking Alcohol?
Ok, been there. Usually the only way to avoid blackouts is to stop drinking at a certain point. You need to learn to identify your limits. When you feel you are getting drunk beyond the point of control, drink small sips and slowly, that way you are still in the party, drinking, but you won’t get drunker. You can also drink some water, eat something, or have a bartender prepare you a resuscitator drink.
Blacking out and intolerance are signs of alcholism. The reason why its taking less and less of the alcohol to bring you to the point of blanking out, is because your liver has been full of alcohol for 10 years now… so much to the point that it still has the reminents of alcohol in it, when you are not drinking, and when you do drink it loosens up the alcohol reminents in it and it takes you less and less to get to the point of being drunk. Signs of an alcoholic is when you are unable to control how much you drink, if you are unable to control yourself and stop at 2 maximum then you will know if you are an alchie or not… seriously… if you can’t control it, then that means the alcohol is controlling you and thats when you need help. And as far as now, I believe that blacking out is a sign of the alcohol controlling you.
Obvious answer to this would be not to drink. But if you were going to drink why dont you try drinking alot slower, maybe drink half pints and make them last the same amount of time as a pint. You could alternate between alcohol and water (or a soft drink). Your tolerance to alcohol can change at any time. Perhaps your tolerance is so low now that your body is reacting so badly. Drinking slowly allows you to feel the effect that the alcohol is having so you can stop at an appropriate time i.e. before you blackout, and suss out tolerance levels. Also less alcohol….cheaper night out! Maybe get your blood sugar checked too.
