Exotics require specialized knowledge and care and places to live. If you are truly interested in helping with exotics, there are a couple of options: 1. Volunteer at the local animal shelter. They will know where rescued exotics get placed and you can end up helping at one of those places. Texas has some very good connections. 2. Take courses in animal husbandry at your local college, with a specialization, if possible, in exotics. We do rescue work with good old horses! Nothing exotic about them. But the troubles we find they have require us to learn more almost everyday and be in constant touch with our vetrinarian. Just horses is expensive. Exotics are FAR more expensive because of the specialized care and feed and medical attention the rescued animals require. Please, please do not attempt to do this on your own.
