Rather than sprinting, you should start doing leisurely jogs for 30 minutes or so every day. This will build up your stamina, and somewhat your leg strength. Find some small relatively heavy for their size and easy to grip objects around. Even a full water bottle is better than nothing, though if you can manage to borrow some hand weights, it would speed things up. Start doing curls and bench presses with whatever objects are heavy enough that you can feel them working the muscle by the 50th rep, if not much sooner.
