How can i sing but sing high notes coming from my stomach not my throat?
Firstly, you need to place one hand on your chest and one on your stomach. When you breathe, make sure that only your lower hand is moving, ie that it is only the muscles of your diaphragm which are working. This isn’t just for high notes, but for singing in general… for optimum breath control you must learn to fill your entire lungs with air. Okay, next, make sure you open your mouth properly by dropping your jaw and not letting your tongue block the sound. Now smile and lift your eyebrows (yes, it sounds weird, but it’s directing sound the the resonators in your cheeks and also lifting your soft palette which can interfere with sound.) Stand up against a chair so that it presses into your lower back (or get someone to place a hand on your back) and try to focus the sound from where the pressure is being applied. Finally, make sure that you a singing an open vowel… avoid moving onto consonants too soon or singing “ee” or “ay”… try “ah” or “eh”. Hope this helps!
