How can I show my girlfriends parents that marriage is a good idea?
They are probably not too happy because you’ve only dated for a few months. Make sure they know that you are not rushing things and you want to wait until the timing is right. They probably think that you guys will get married right away, end up getting her pregnant and then her college education will go down the drain. (Yes, parents of girls always think the worst!) I’d have a sit down with them and explain you want to see your fiancee finish out her college and that your date is a year and a 1/2 away and that you guys are thinking about the future and not rushing. If they know you plan to wait until she is almost done her schooling and it is far down the road, they may be a little more open to it. They need to know that the 2 of you have throughly discussed your plans and ideas for the future. Be prepared though, they might ask about your plans for children etc.
