How can I send a command to esXpress without using “phd” or “GUI Helper”?

You can issue commands to esXpress v3 from within the VI3 client itself. You do this by appending control text to the DISPLAY name of the VM in the navigation pane of the VI3 client. For example, if the display name is “DNS Server”, changing it to “DNS Server [xNOW]” will tell esXpress to backup this VM now. NOTE: VI3 “x” commands may take a minute before they are processed. The esXpress background process monitor display name changes every minute and will process them accordingly. Also note, “x” commands are NOT case sensitive.
