How can I secure my wireless Internet connection?
If you are talking about internet features of a standard cell phone, then the short answer is that you can’t. Securing an internet connection has many meanings to many people. It requires software be installed that is not available for cell phones. VPN is the usual method for securing connections. This encrypts data sent between you and your VPN server. Blackberry’s are capable of running a VPN. PC’s and Mac’s with wireless cards are capable of running VPN. Running VPN requires that you have a VPN server somewhere. In addition, VPN’s are only as secure as the network where they are running and they don’t protect you when you much when you are accessing the internet outside that protected domain. To truly secure your connection, additional software is required. PC’s & Mac’s have virus scan software available. They can also run firewall software. I don’t know if this software exists for Blackberry’s.
