Gift registries are the best place to do so. You can add the details of your cash gift to them people register for money gifts as well so that they can easily tell their guest about their need. Money cards, personal website and  small registries help you to do so.

WOW! – NEVER WRITE THAT OR ANYTHING RELATED TO GIFTS ON YOUR WEDDING INVITATION! If you want to write anything regarding gifts it should be in your Bridal Shower invites and even then should never say cash preferred. Just include the places you are registered at. If you don’t want a bunch of “junk” from your registry, just don’t include anything and hope they give you cash. But you should NEVER say that – although you might be thinking that.

That is tacky and not wedding ettiquette. Today, people are getting away from wedding gifts realizing that girls have bridal showers, engagement parties and get lots of items for their home. So money has become the thing. Asking for cash is an insult to your guests and should remain off the wedding invitation.
