If you have an unconfirmed 500-mile upgrade request, you will automatically be given an opportunity to be added to the upgrade standby list during check-in on AA.com, the Self-Service machine, or with an airport agent. Please note, however, that you must have the required number of upgrades in your account at the time of check-in to be added to the standby list.
