How can I request items through Interlibrary Loan and what sort of items can be requested?

Many materials not available at the IU South Bend Libraries (books, periodical articles, etc.) can be obtained through the library’s interlibrary loan service. Videos may be requested from other IU libraries, but some cannot be lent. We will try to borrow videos from libraries outside of the IU system, but the success rate is small. Our interlibrary loan service is free of charge to IU South Bend students, faculty and staff. Patrons not affiliated with IU South Bend may use the library’s interlibrary loan services at no charge, but requests are restricted to materials available in the state of Indiana. Those attending another university should use the ILL services of that institution, even for materials from other IU campuses. Request forms are available online. For assistance, please ask a Reference librarian.
