How can I represent multi-dimensional tables of data in an instance document?

0

Multi-dimensional tables of data generally consist of one or more concepts, reported for different entities, time frames and/or scenarios. In other words, the different dimensions in the tables correspond to context information. Where the standard constituents of numeric and non-numeric context elements are not sufficient to capture the dimensionality of the facts being reported, additional markup will need to be used in either the scenario element or the segment element of the fact contexts. The specific markup used in these elements is up to the creator of the instance documents containing the multi-dimensional tables. The particular markup used can be adopted by convention. Preferably, however, it is described and can be validated, using an XML Schema definition of the markup for the various dimensions.
