How can I remove the extra length from necklaces and bracelets?

0

I know that some of you like the extra dangle from the expandable part of the necklaces and bracelets if you wear the smallest size. For example, if you always wear your necklace at 16″, then the 17″ and 18″ expandable part of the necklace dangles down your back. If you take the piece to a jewelry store, they can take of the excess inches easily, usually at little or no cost, but be certain to ask about the price first. If you would like to remove the excess length on your own, it is not difficult. Close the piece on the length you prefer and hold the expandable part of the necklace. Next, using a pair of wire cutters, cut the chain or bead right above the jump ring that the clasp is hooked too. Be careful not to cut the jump ring that the clasp is hooked to.
