Yes you have to use a straight edge razor and don’t cut yourself. After you straight edge it, you get one of those 3M industrial pads that they use for cleaning floors (they are cheap don’t panic) and then sand the rest. A little Goo-Gone may speed up the final process but if you don’t have it you don’t have it. There is supposedly a silicon dissolver out there but I’ve never seen it here in the U.S. That doesn’t mean it is not available I’ve just never seen it. Plus, if the silicon is thick, I’m skeptical a dissolver would do anything more than make it goo all over the place. But, wtf, if I find the stuff I’ll try it. I know they sell it overseas but I live in the U.S. so.
