How can I remove iridium coating from a helmet face shield?

0

+++ I have an iridium-coated motorcycle helmet face shield from which some of the iridium has been either abraded or dissolved, (don’t know which). Is there is a fluid I can use, (alcohol, kerosene, naptha, etc.), to remove the remaining iridium coating, leaving a clear (undamaged) shield. I have no access to plating processes. Any guidance will be appreciated. Marvin Travis N/A – Kirkland, Washington +++ Iridium is a very inert metal related to platinum. It can only be dissolved in concentrated acids. I suspect what you have is not iridium but something similarly named. Ken Soderquist – Blaine, MN, USA Answer or follow-up on this subject (in non-commercial fashion).
