How can i recognise a pure diamond?
Diamond has a specific density. It has a specific refractive index to light. It also has a specific conductivity to electricity. Gemologist would use various tools to test these characteristic to confirm whether a stone is a diamond or not. There is a diamond tester that looks like an electric probe. With just one touch, it can tell if the object is real diamond. A good diamond should appear very bright and white (brilliance) with some sparkles of colors (fire) when you move it around. There are many imitations. One very popular imitation is Cubic Zirconia which looks very much like diamond except that it gives out excessive rainbow colors due to a different refractive index. To some people, the extra “fire” makes it prettier than real diamond. But the extra fire gives it away as the cheap stuff. A less common imitation is lead crystals or silver crystals like Swarovski crystal which also give out “fire” but you usually can see through a crystal and hence it would not have the white br
